Moj prvi računalnik – Commodore 64c

Če vprašam dijake o njihovih prvih računalnikih, potem govorimo že o PC-jih in MACih, ki so še vedno zelo zelo podobni sedanjim. Pojmi kot so PC 486, Windows 3.1, Spectrum, Atari in  Commodore so samo dinozavri iz računalniške preteklosti, ki (po mnenju mnogih) niso omembe vredni. Pisal bom o mojem prvem računalniku – Commodore 64c.

Commodore 64 je bil zelo popularen računalnik v 80. letih. Izdelanih je bilo preko 30 milijonov primerkov. Po navadi je bil opremljen s kasetofonom in je podatke shranjeval na kasete.

Frekvenca jedra procesorja je znašala za današnje čase borih 0.985 MHz, vgrajenega je imel 64 KB pomnilnika. Sliko, ki jo je dajal, pa smo lahko opazovali tudi na televiziji, ker so bili računalniški zasloni za domačo uporabo redkost.

Spomnim se, da sem bil v mali šoli (primerjalno gledano sedanji prvi razred devetletke). Oče in mati sta domov prinesla računalnik. To je bil povsem nov pojem zame. Vedel sem da obstajajo računalniku oz. nekaj njim podobnega – a moja takratna miselna podoba računalnika je bolj spominjala na super veliko škatlo polno svetlečih se gumbov, ki oddajajo različne piske, poke in druge zvoke. Tisti, ki poznate prvo sezono kultne serije Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, veste o čem govorim. 🙂

Pa se je začelo – učenje algoritma, kako uporabljati računalnik Commodore 64. Imel je kasetnik, ogromno mehansko tipkovnico, dve igralni palici in en čuden kabel z na sredini veliko, težko in vedno vročo škatlo. Seveda se sprašujete – kje pa je monitor. Commodore 64 ni imel monitorja – priključil si ga kar na televizijo – na vhodu za sobno/zunanjo anteno. Preprosto.

Da si boste lažje predstavljali, sem spodaj poiskal čim bolj referenčno sliko računalnika, ki sem ga imel. 🙂 Na sliki se vse ujema z mojim takratnim računalnikom. Razlika je le v tem, da ima Commodore (na sliki) disketnik – moj pa je imel kasetnik. Točno tak kasetnik, kot ga vidite na desni strani. Upam, da še veste, kakšne so bile avdio-kasete.

In kakšen je bil postopek, če si želel igrati igrico? Nič lažjega.

  1. Vse priključiš in prižgeš. Seveda.
  2. Napišeš LOAD  in nato pritisneš tipko play na kasetniku. Začne se uvodna melodija branja sistema. 🙂 Čudovita in neskončno lepa melodija, ki uspava cel stanovanjski blok ob 6h zjutraj. Ker se odločiš, da boš igral igrice preden greš v malo šolo. 🙂
  3. Ko se sistem naloži, vstaviš kaseto z igrico, ki jo želiš igrati. Če si nestrpen, potem poskusiš kaseto prevrteti na mesto, kjer je zabeleženo, da se igrica začne. Za vsako avdio-kaseto si imel zraven listek s številkami obratov za vsako igrico. Nekateri podatki niso bili natančni in potem si lahko šel mimo igrice, kar je bilo še posebno zabavno, ker si moral vse ponoviti. Razen če si znal računalnik prelisičiti, potem si lahko branje sistema preskočil.
  4. Ko si prepričan, da boš naletel na pravo igrico, si pritisnil <- (puščica v levo) in črko L, ki je pomenila, da boš naložil program. Ponovno si pritisnil play na kasetniku.
  5. Ponovno se je začelo igranje melodije in kazanje mavričnih barv. Če si nastavil na pravo igrico, se je morala samo še naložiti in voila. Lahko si igral. 🙂 Ko si premisliš in želiš igrati nekaj drugega, pa začneš s korakom 1.

Postopek je bil kar dolgotrajen – zato buh ne dej, da  bi pomotoma zgrešil pri vrtenju kasetnika. Priznam, da sem marsikaj pozabil, kar sem navedel. Na YouTube sem prebrskal in našel posnetek, ki opisuje točno tak algoritem, kot je bil pri mojem računalniku. Zato mi je bilo še lažje obuditi spomine – spomina na večno čakanje, da se igrica naloži.

Čeprav nisem nikoli veliko igral igric, sem jih še največ odigral ravno na Commodore 64c. Poskušal sem tudi nekaj programirati, ampak ni nič uspelo. Saj takrat sploh nisem vedel, kaj točno je programiranje. Bolj je bilo sledenje nekim napisanim ukazom, ki pa niso rodili nič pametnega. Sem pa kaj narisal – z ogromno velikimi piksli – hišo, drevo, psa, človeka. Podobe značilne za otroka. Računalnik sem uporablja vse do 4. razreda, ko sem dobil svoj prvi osebni računalnik PC 486. O njem pa kdaj drugič.
